What's the reason behind people not using Linux?
@LinuxHandbook Very easy. Windows and MacOs are the only preinstalled OS in all new computers. If you want to use Linux you have to install it and is not easy to install. Most people use computers for general propose tasks that can be done on Windows so there isn't need to change to Linux
@LinuxHandbook The other operating systems work without having to spend weeks debugging shit that randomly makes your whole system unusable.
@LinuxHandbook They're scared about breaking their PC.
@LinuxHandbook There is no @Adobe aps on the linux. When the Adobe start ti Linux probably millions of oc users migrate to Linux,
@LinuxHandbook marketing, and support
@LinuxHandbook For me it's the fact that there is no native support for several programs I use. I want to use the app, I don't want an alternative Premiere Pro (cant run with wine) Paint dot net (I aint using gimp) Fl studio (wine makes midi latency like 2 seconds)
@LinuxHandbook 1. There are still alot of apps that cant be used in Linux. 2. Gaming. It getting better and better on Linux but still it needs some more time to get reliable i guess 3. IMO Linux isn't user friendly for normal people.
@LinuxHandbook People get confused as to which linux distribution should they go for. Also many people prefer Out of the Box experience rather than tinkering with the terminal
@LinuxHandbook The main reason is for some users, specific apps they use are not developped on Linux. Open sources alternatives don't work as well (often). For ex., i cant mix music on Linux with my travel laptop pioneer equipment because softwares not available on linux. Mixxx not working with
@LinuxHandbook - too many choice: there is one Windows, one MacOS, but hundreds of desktop linux possibilities - tweaking necessary to make simple things work
@LinuxHandbook If your linux pc breaks down who can you call or pay to fix it? People don't want better. They want convenience. Plus norms have been established. This question could substitute 'linux' for libre office or other valid open source software.
@LinuxHandbook Nobody in their right mind cares what OS they run. The OS enables you to run applications and they are what matter.
@LinuxHandbook At office, environment based on windows and components which some don't support Linux . Licenses for windows, Microsoft. PC s are purchased with Windows OS. I use mostly Linux at home
@LinuxHandbook Most Linux distributions are unpolished mockups of either Windows or macOS. Why not use the original if i have to use a laggy, buggy, cumbersome, and incomplete replica.
@LinuxHandbook Fear to the terminal, and the way to install software. Its like a beer is not good at first. 😆
@LinuxHandbook Because it's not free 1:1 Windows substitute as they thought. They run linux once, OMG, exe doesn't work, OMG, linux is crap, there's no Photoshop and AutoCAD and my game doesn't work, OMG!!!!11111oneone!!! 🤣
@LinuxHandbook Why so many distros? This is the first confusion I encounter before thinking to use any other os. Why not develope just one distro that is best and professionals centric. Why waste energy on developing so many distros? If Linux has to make its own ecosystem it needs to be "one".
@LinuxHandbook Because it doesn't come preinstalled on common laptops.
@LinuxHandbook Program incompatibility. I'd already be on Linux if i could find Linux programs that work as well as VEGAS Pro and Paint(dot)NET
@LinuxHandbook The toxic and unwelcoming community Linux has.
@LinuxHandbook when nobody uses Linux because of conflicting advice 😳
@LinuxHandbook From experience issue one is : lack of exposure. Reason two: lack from M$ to adhere to standards. I've promoted Linux to friends so many times, they love it until they get a word document or an XL sheet 😔
@LinuxHandbook "Would you like to try this laptop with Linux installed?" Asked no vendor in a high street.
@LinuxHandbook Because while Linux is very successful on the server (thanks to the robust Kernel), Linux desktop is a failure.
@LinuxHandbook Convenience mainly, people prefer some compromises on security and customization over uncomfortable true control of the system
@LinuxHandbook 1. Many apps like photoshop and many more are only available on Windows or the MacOS. 2. Many people don't know what Linux is or think it's too hard to use and install 3. Some don't care about Linux. 4. Some features are only available on the MacOS or Windows.
@LinuxHandbook Distros. When you attempt a Linux install and something doesnt work its just suggested to switch to distro x, well then something else doesnt work on distro x, rinse and repeat. We need a stable distro to build on.
@LinuxHandbook I'm a musician, I use linux only for about 10 as my unique OS (no dual boot or VM) and free software only for music and video production, I can grant you that in my area there is a gap of really good and intuitive tools that would prevent musicians to do the same as me.
