I started so many novels when I was younger, but I'm very glad I was nearly 50 when I committed myself to it. Age brings a bit of wisdom and perspective and lived experience. I know lots of agents feel the same. 50 is a VERY GOOD age to write a novel. Go for it!

A lovely visit to St Peter's Church in Sandwich today and a generous gift from them of lots of children's books for our #LittleLibrary. The volunteers at St Peters are amazing, they've raised £43k this year from their stalls open 7 days, well worth visiting! @VisitSandwich

The oddest spate of ongoing vandalism in the park saw our doors wrecked again last night. Books scattered everywhere. All cleared up now. This torn out page left on the ground was particularly poignant. Sigh. Do they know they're made of stardust?
