My friend sent me this today. It's a Gram Stain of CSF. Repeated 3 times, all same. New reagents, same effect. Different CSF, no issues. Reminds me of the fern test for amniotic fluids. What would cause this in a CSF?

@LnMicro I don’t know, but in searching I did find this paper in which a scientist found he could precipitate crystals by drying CSF from healthy and ill individuals and found certain patterns to be associated with “general paralysis” (Polio? GBS? Something else?) ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

@LnMicro @Cortes_Penfield Too much protein or some other solute that's making the fluid too saturated and easily precipitates?
