Messing with the shader more, I have no clue what I'm doing ahaha. Using a division blend but it's a bit strong. I made a script to adjust the base scale + color to emphasize that fake z value, happy with it! One step at a time, been busy tho #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

I fixed the npc targetting! I forgot I intentionally set some monsters to have negative reputation with own faction (so they fight each other). The monsters would target and atk self. It's neat, but unintended. #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

Messing around with perspective parallax. I misused sprite shapes to force it sorta, but it shows. (grid texture to highlight errors) It's okay for now, but for the actual version I'll need to mess with shaders I think... not my strong suit admittedly #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

Working on tiling the ground so movement is fluid. I realized it still looks wrong because the image isn't warped to give fake 3d perspective. I could animate it, BUT I'm exploring meshes since it seems like a fun solution. #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

First pass on player hiding. It needs a lot of work. Eventually, the character stats will tie into how well you can hide. I'd like to even have specific landmarks (such as trees and bushes) give a bonus to hiding. #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

I realized the player can't see how far into the season they are. To help, the season icon now moves along the timeBar to give an estimate. For showcasing purposes, seasons are short (also I'm just adding time without passing it). #undusk #gamedev #indiedev #uidesign

Been busy with a lot of personal things, but still chugging away! I made some ui so that you can check on the other cats in your group! It's rough but functions enough for a prototype. Also.. I fixed layering issues again again again. #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

I'm quite pleased with myself. I added a little more feedback to the ui. Health flashes if you're in notable danger (factors in things like allies, health, and tenacity). Stamina flashes if your curr action would make you pass out. #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

The passing out system now has a grace period. If you recover stamina, you stabilize. This was suggested by a playtester. I like it because it gives the player more control, while still creating pressure. It needs polish, but it works for now! #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

Added dropShadows to landmarks and a shrub thing. Also, I made a mistake (not seen in this video). I use the z position for precise layering. I noticed the camera clips objs with low z values. Should be an easy fix, but... you never know. #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

I wasn't planning on adding dropShadows to all npcs since it's subtle, looks better than I thought! I rearranged how the sprite was parented so the shadow won't follow with the sprite, ahah. Surprisingly, little trouble yet. Systems are holding up #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

I cleaned up the idle system! Floating actually works now ahah. It was an earlier script (while I was still learning differences between C# and C++). For now, the Corpse Eater *exists*. It's not aggressive enough, but I can look into that. #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

Was in an artsy mood, so I started looking into what a corpse eater might look like. I thought it'd be cool if they were the enemy on the disease UI (which was inspired by cat skulls)! I still need to sketch out some other angles like a front/2.5 view #undusk #gamedev #indiedev

I fixed up npc layering! I had to untangle a few things like the spin animation. To make layering more consistent, I shift the sprites up a bit so that the origin is where it is on the ground. I'm gonna wait on item layering.. it has collision issues #undusk #gamedev #indiedev
