It was a great honour to participate today, along with my family members, in a special event organised by the Government of Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena and attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, as well as other high-ranking officials and thousands of Emirati citizens and residents. Part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the “Arab Hope Makers” is a significant event held in Dubai to recognize humanitarian initiatives and charitable efforts from across the Arab countries. At this year’s event, a documentary film was show about the life and passing of my late daughter, Farishta Azizi, who tragically passed away a few months ago due to cancer. In my brief speech in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, I announced my intention to donate AED 3 billions, in memory of Farishta Azizi and in support of MBRGI’s Fathers’ Endowment, for the construction of a medical complex, including a hospital and a research center for diseases, particularly cancer. Built to highest international standards in Dubai, the medical complex will be dedicated to supporting those in need in the UAE and will also serve as a support hub for establishing and advancing similar centers in other countries. I am proud that this private donation is being recognised as the largest of its kind in the history of the UAE. Additionally, I took the opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the leadership of Dubai, especially to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, emphasizing that it is thanks to his wise, human-centered, and forward-looking leadership that people from all over the world are able to come to Dubai to live in harmony and prosperity, benefiting from its unparalleled opportunities for a secure and productive life. Further details regarding the medical complex initiative in Dubai will be released at a later stage.
