Welcome to Maple Tree Class 2025! We’ve had a great first day making new friends, going on a scavenger hunt, painting pumpkins and pebbles, running round the new track and reading lots of stories! Now we can’t wait to come back and do it all again tomorrow!

We’ve been talking about showing respect in our final PSHE lesson. Now we are super busy playing games and completing jigsaws together. We are asking people to play, taking our turn and using our manners - as well as listening to each other politely. #greatsankeyactiveweek

We had a real magic moment this morning as we got to say hello to some primary school children in Kenya, where Mrs Franklin’s daughter is currently volunteering. It was lovely to see their smiling faces and they told us their favourite subject is English!🇰🇪 #connectingchildren

We finally got to make our fruit kebabs as part of our last DT project. I think you can tell from these faces that they were a hit! We just decided in our evaluation that we wouldn’t use nectarines next time, they were too slippery! #greatsankeydt

Choir’s concert was fabulous! The children sang beautifully- managing solos, duets and trios in harmony and we saw some amazing dance moves! A lovely end for our Year 6s - some of whom have been singing in choir since they were in Year 3. We were very proud. 🎶🎤#greatsankeymusic

In DT today we learnt how to chop, peel and grate fruit and vegetables and then designed our own fruit kebab, which we are going to make next week as part of our project, to eat more fruit and vegetables. We may have done a bit more taste testing today too! #greatsankeydt

We got active in our maths lesson and completed four exercises for a minute each then decided which was our favourite. We then converted the data into a block graph and wrote questions for Mrs Franklin! #greatsankeysports #greatsankeymaths
