The goal for this type of skill is math fluency so when SS see a problem involving positives and negatives, it becomes second nature to them. But that only comes with LOTS of practice, and LOTS of affirming and/or correcting to get them to that point. bit.ly/2SCkR1Q

I have a S struggling with this skill, so I figured others might benefit from this as well. However, no matter how many tutorials a S has access to, it’s not a replacement for immediate one-on-one feedback and directed practice to address individual Qs bit.ly/2Ukrypz

Common core lacks “drill practice”. Yes, understanding the “why” is very important, but kids still need LOTS of practice to get good at math. Skills like this NEED to become second nature in order to be successful, and that only comes with practice. bit.ly/2SRcI9P
