Absolutely wonderful news this afternoon! I've just been awarded an outreach grant from @RoySocChem to run "Polymer Playground", a chemistry programme for gifted disadvantaged students. Excited to be collaborating with @R2B2_13 from @DCUChemistry on this snazzy project! 🌟👨🔬👩🔬🌟

The average science student pays roughly €12,000 over the course of their degree and DCU can't fork out a few quid to allow students to retain access to the contacts and conversations formed over 4 years. So much for the enduring spirit of the @DCU alumni

PhDone! Yesterday was the day that I always envisioned in my mind for the past 4 years...It is very official now! A massive thank you to my supervisors @BlanaidWhiteDCU and @JimCarolanMU, and the @ProtectsProject team for their continuous support! #DCUgrad @DCUChemistry
As we are not recognised as workers, we have no access to sick leave, maternity leave or PRSI contributions. The additional discriminatory barriers faced by non-EU PGRs (IRP, mandatory health insurance etc.) place further burdens on an already precarious group of people.
