Our hero drops his torch and grips his sword tightly with two hands, readying himself for the evil soon to reveal itself from within the ancient mausoleum. The pulsing red light, emanating from an indiscernible source, is joined by a demonic roar, and then flashes, blinding him.

Our hero walks into the large chamber, his sword held firmly in his grip, his eyes darting around for any signs of movement in the darkness. As he moves closer to the center of the room, a low rumble begins to echo in the chamber, until suddenly the room is bathed in a red light.

Our hero felled the undead abomination, and removed his sword from the creature's rotted skull. Wiping the blade off, he picked up his torch and continued on deeper into the crypt, even more on edge than before, but encountered no more creatures, until he came upon a large tomb.

Our hero enters a pitch black room, illuminated only by the torch in his left hand. Despite the room seeming empty at first, a corpse attacks him from the shadows, causing him to drop his torch. He grips his sword in two hands and slams it into the side of the corpse's head.

Our hero makes his way past ancient graves, until he stands before the decrepit mausoleum. Prying open the door, he sees only impenetrable darkness before him. He removes a torch from one of the wall sconces flanking the entrance to pierce the black, and descends into the crypt.

Our hero continues on his quest, leading him to a cemetery, commanded by a mausoleum on a hill. He draws his sword from its sheath on his back, and prays for a blessing to protect him against whatever evils or horrors may lie inside, before steeling himself and entering the gate.

Our hero carries the merchant to a clearing and begins digging a grave, and once done lays him gently into it. Once the body has been covered, away from prying eyes and predators, he says a prayer over the grave to allow the restless soul to find peace beyond the mortal plane.

Our hero walks down a beaten path, where many have trodden before him, through a dim, ominous forest. Rounding the bend, he stumbles across a horrific sight: a wagon ransacked, strewn about the road; the horse lay mangled, heaving, while the merchant lay with his throat cut.
