Clean Energy is dominating in a big way. It is very clear that traditional fuels can’t scale 10x to meet this moment. I think we are going to solve electricity poverty globally with solar + batteries by 2035.
But our industry is being run by folks that are too risk averse.
One solar panel of 30 kg replaces 8 tonnes of coal (or 40 barrels of oil) and 25 tonnes of CO2
Let me show you:
Every solar panel has a number of wattpeak or Wp, that indicates what it produces in "ideal" (1000W/m2) sunshine conditions.
So in ideal conditions it would produce…
What are we doing?
How are we in a situation where we invented silicon solar cells, China is building them so quickly that coal use is down despite skyrocketing demand, and we're turning *back* to coal?
This is sabotage.

Three years ago, Texans paid over $500 million when a heatwave spiked electricity prices.
This year, under almost the same conditions, they paid 1/10th the price... thanks to solar and storage.

Solar takes up too much space 😡
This solar farm occupies the *entire* roof of this house and only supplies 3x its electricity demand. 😔
Imagine if every roof were covered in solar panels. 😱
Where would we grow our food? 😢

Solar is a *lot* cheaper than diesel.
Solar saves a ton of money, even if you already own a diesel generator, and it makes electricity affordable for people who never had access before.
This is Starlink for energy.

Reliable, fast-to-deploy power — regardless of source.
That's the priority for America's leaders in the AI race and they know we need solar in order to win ⬇️

We've partnered with @OrigamiSolar to create a 550W series module with a U.S. steel frame and U.S.-manufactured solar cell. This is how we build a stronger domestic supply chain. 🤝 See it first at #REPlus, booth #F16045. Schedule here: [email protected].
Very compelling (and concerning) overview of why China is way better positioned to power an AI data center boom than the US. Rule of thumb: China is limited by chips, US limited by power. Absolutely critical for US AI competitiveness that we efficiently utilize our power system

Industrial heat is climate+health blind spot.
Swapping 33,500 industrial boilers for heat pumps could
- Save $1.1T in public health costs
- Avoid 77,200 premature deaths (2030–2050)
- Prevent 33M asthma attacks, 13M lost school days, 3.4M lost work days
- Cut 1.6B t CO₂ by 2050
New tech scales way faster than old.
Solar went from 100 → 1,000 TWh in 8 years, then doubled again to 2,000 TWh by 2024—in just 3 more years. For each of the last three years, solar was the biggest source of new electricity globally. Nothing else has scaled this fast.
One acre of corn for ethanol = 25,000 miles in a Ford F-150.
One acre of solar = 700,000 miles in an F-150 Lightning.
That’s the scale of possibility Bill McKibben laid out on the Energy Capital Podcast.
And here’s the kicker: with agrovoltaics, farmers can still use that land.…
The real scam is blaming solar for fossil fuel price spikes.
Farmers, families, and businesses choose solar to save money, preserve land, and escape high costs of the old, dirty fuels being forced on them by this administration.
