NRCS added a scenario to the 328 Practice for Conservation Crop Rotation to include alfalfa. MN, MI, ND, SD, and WI are included in the states that have adopted the practice and have released payment scenarios. Those payments range from $64.40-$77.47/acre. alfalfa.org/NRCSpayment.php

This summers rainfall had multiple direct and indirect effects on alfalfa forage yield and quality. On most soils there is adequate water for good forage growth, but untimely rainfall has had some detrimental effects. Hay prices were slightly lower for June hay sales according to the Hay Market Demand & Price Report for the Upper Midwest. Prime alfalfa hay averaged $207/ton for large squares, $337/ton for small squares, & $160/ton for large rounds. midwestforage.org/non-researchpd…
