Highly recommend this video, on why North America can't build nice apartments. youtube.com/watch?v=iRdwXQ…
@MikePMoffatt I believe you Sir, but could you please elaborate somewhat?
@MikePMoffatt Smile. And- far more money selling small units/ more of them/ matches market in many areas/ more overall revenue for builder. And- some advocates seem to have entered a ‘build anything anywhere’ view- no seeming concern about pressures on local services/ schools/ transit, etc.
@MikePMoffatt I think you've presented your housing policy wisdom directly to @townofoakville Council? I'm sorry to say it seems at least one of #Oakville's leaders prefers to follow subjective sentiment rather than lead by best practice examples. (C)harmful living seems exclusive here. ✌️

@MikePMoffatt It's bc we've incentivized investor driven development, which has resulted in smaller and smaller studio apts that can be air bnb'd or sat on as a high interest savings account for domestic and overseas wealth.
@MikePMoffatt When my 3 brothers and I were young, we played lawndarts every summer vacation. One cottage we rented in NB, had a small woodshop. In the woodshop we found a powered grinder. Lets just say we improved the darts & later my mom was off to find a hospital to get 1 of us leg stitches
@MikePMoffatt All these building announcements are just pissing off young people. They don’t want to live in a condo or apartment. They want a house with a yard to raise their family.
