It is indeed the scandal of our time, when the choices facing victims & survivors of DA is to flee to a place of isolation and poverty, risk losing care of children to abusers or keep quiet to appease the abusers and their enablers and put the children at risk

We absolutely understand why mums consider fleeing - to Hague or non-Hague countries - to keep themselves & their children safe. There's no adequate protection, no safe solution for mums in these circumstances. Not in the UK. Not anywhere. 1. To stay means further abuse 1/5

It’s the biggest issue in my inbox as well. It’s heartbreaking and beyond frustrating that @jessphillips and I, and many others, have been calling on Govt for years to urgently reform family courts. But change is too slow and victims of serious crimes are being placed at risk.

We called for mandatory training in the DA Act for family court judiciary on abuse but Govt blocked it. Lack of expertise is leading to victims’ disclosures of serious abuse being dismissed and weaponised against them and reframed as ‘frustrating contact’. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-665347…

When, after Re H-N, the President said that DA training was mandatory for all family court judges, I sent an FOI asking how many had done it. They refused to answer.
