“Inappropriate behavior” might describe cracking loud jokes in a library, but it should never be used as a euphemism for clergy sexual abuse. Vague language minimizes the grooming, betrayal, and trauma survivors endure. Call it what it is: abuse, not merely “inappropriate.”

It's easier to leave a church, or even to leave a denomination, than it is to leave behind the fundamentalist way of thinking. It's a black-and-white way of thinking that many of us were inculcated in, a way of thinking without nuance.

@RobertDownen_ The comparison ☝️speaks volumes as to how serious they are taking clergy sexual abuse, which is to say, they are not. They will continue proving they are not a safe denomination for children and women, and will continue to lose members, month after month, and year after year.
