Such a shame that the price of...<checks notes> computer storage for ~2 terabytes of files went up so dramatically to force @Bookshare to bump their prices by 60%. I'm sure this'll be wonderful for those on fixed income.

One difference between worry about AI and worry about other kinds of technologies (e.g. nuclear power, vaccines) is that people who understand it well worry more, on average, than people who don't. That difference is worth paying attention to.

Whenever an AI breakthrough drops, people pay way too much attention to the capability itself and way too little to the evidence it provides about future progress. As AI starts having major economic impacts it'll unfortunately become even easier to lose sight of the big picture.
