It’s been over a year since I stopped teaching and I am still beyond grateful that I no longer have to make sub plans when I am sick. It’s crazy how much stress that added to an already exhausting experience.

Investing in myself and it feels like I’m on 🔥

Inspiration has struck, and I’ve decided I want to share my thoughts as a former high school math teacher and current Mama with the world. I have too much to say. Here’s to new ventures that feel right, even if it’s just the beginning ❤️ ➡️ mrsmorato.com #formerteacher
Today would’ve been my first day back with students after my maternity leave. Instead of waking up at 5am, on 4 hours of sleep after caring for my teething 5 month old, I got to sleep in with her and tell her good morning, without any anxiety about my day. I am so thankful ❤️
Note: not sure what that is as far as “work” but for now it means always keeping my house clean and entertaining my 5 month old daughter/best friend every day. I’m cool with that ❤️
And with that, ready to say HELLO to something new. ❤️
Cleaned out my classroom today which was a cumulation of 6 years of memories and ish. Bittersweet but as I was flooded with memories, the theme was constant: I loved the kids, but I’m ready to say goodbye.
Here is how I explained why I resigned from my job as a teacher.
I don’t know how yet, and I’m sad to leave a profession that I was so good at, but I am going to advocate for MORE. I wouldn’t want my students staying in a job, miserable and overwhelmed. I want to inspire CHANGE.
I resigned from my teaching job today. I have been on maternity leave and realized just how many demands are being asked of teachers nowadays. There are SO many needs, and not enough support, for teachers to be doing this alone. I want to make change happen, & now is the time.
