Today I am striking against the erosion of pay. I would far rather be in school with my pupils preparing them for prelims and getting them enthusiastic about science. Additionally, teacher strikes are different than all other strikes - all our work still gets done.

There's a problem when people state that teachers should use pre-prepared lessons and stop 'reinventing' the wheel. It assumes the wheel can meet the needs of every child. The fact is it can't. Teachers are educated to create lessons that meet the needs of THEIR pupils.

Want to turn around a school? 1. Sort behaviour 2. Introduce routines: a) Start with corridors/all transitions b) Then entry/exit routines c) Then behaviour routines (classroom) to aid learning. 3. Introduce I DO/WE DO/YOU DO lesson plans. Then, and only then, curriculum, etc.
