It was wonderful to see the Y11 students @AstreaErnulf receive their GCSE grades today. Staff and students have worked tirelessly this year and these smiles make it all worth it. These results were a huge step forwards for the school!

We’ve had a wonderful results day at @AstreaErnulf. 4+ En/Ma and 5+ En/Ma were both up by 10%, meaning lots more children achieved the grades they needed for next steps. So proud of how hard they have worked and what they’ve achieved. 😃

Sitting at the YMCA watching my 3-year-old son receive explicit instruction in swimming. "Move your arms like this, show me hold your breath, kick your feet". All with practice, repetition, and constant positive feedback. This is the way we learn.

Our curriculum embeds deliberate practice lessons at the point of forgetting. These are whole lessons dedicated to reviewing the key concepts taught and focus on independent practice.
Our curriculum embeds deliberate practice lessons at the point of forgetting. These are whole lessons dedicated to reviewing the key concepts taught and focus on independent practice.
We have also introduced whole class feedback lessons this year, setting aside a lesson (or two if needed) to reteach whole class weak areas and allow time for further independent practice. We anticipate forgetting, and we build in curriculum time to deal with this.
