A9. Creating an inviting community for people is one of the best ways you can empower someone transitioning from prison. We all want to belong and have a sense of community and these men and women are no different! #SecondChanceMonth
Q8d. Prayerfully consider where the Lord would have your church make an institutional investment to help returning citizens. Think about the unique members and their skills and opportunities you have. Then allocate funding, volunteers to serve that need. #SecondChanceMonth
@JusticeReform A7 Yes! Mercy! Jesus preached mercy in all situations. If we are truly Christ followers, we should utilize His example. If the church doesn’t show mercy, what are we preaching? #SecondChanceMonth
A8. Most congregants don’t even know these problems exist or if they do they only know what they have seen through the media or tv shows. Bringing these issues to the forefront gives church members a opportunity to either turn a blind eye or take action! #SecondChanceMonth
Q8a. If a church is new to criminal justice issues, there are several steps they can take to get started. First, pray. Prayer is the lowest cost highest power activity we can ever undertake. It doesn't require any expertise or resources, just a willingness. #SecondChanceMonth
A7. Being the hands &feet of Christ means churches invest financially in Care Centers, under-resourced communities, partner orgs serving the marginalized, and urge their participants to volunteer. The gospel is not the gospel if we are not living out Matthew25. #SecondChanceMonth
Q7. Churches can pursue justice, mercy and faithfulness (Mt. 23:23): 1. Preaching/discipling on these themes 2. Partnering/volunteering w/ organizations that serve returning citizens 3. Advocating w/ local and nat'l officials for better policies/resources #SecondChanceMonth
