From crazy wet to crazy dry. Slinging heads this fine maintenance morning as some of the team work on irrigation issues as we find them. The rest of the team working on mowing/blowing throughout the golf course. Not at all what we planned for today, but it has to be done!
Frost delay for the opening day tournament was annoying but the team crushed it. Greens mow, roll greens and approaches, bunker trim/clean/rake, first fairway roll of the season. And new flags/sticks/markers all out. @OwenTefft has spent weeks on these markers, they look sweet!
Plenty of work to do, but the team is currently KBO! As @dirty30milly would say! All those cold days on a spreader paying off!
This board is constantly filled with the chaos inside my brain….somehow the team makes it happen and then some! Very pleased with the golf course right now. Opening day tournament on Saturday, we may have a few more surprises up our sleeves! Enjoy
First tee application of the season, greens/fwy/rough being mowed, greens and approaches being rolled, water on, and “NO” signs in place. Better every day!
Working on tightening up tee edges this week. Also put cart directionals out on the golf course today. First day with carts for 2024! We are very happy with conditions right now get out there and enjoy!
First full weekend crew of the season… expecting rain but we need to get the team back in the swing of things. No carts at least for now, we’ll see what the rain does. Playing it safe for sure
Another .2” yesterday afternoon. Doesn’t seem like much but it could be enough to keep carts on the sidelines for the weekend. We will evaluate the golf course later today and email membership with an update.
Cool start to the day! Small team kicking ass! Course prep and then worked on hydro-seed prep throughout the golf course. And of course, more rain!
Golf course is slowly coming alive, need a few more days like today and maybe we’ll even get carts out.
Golf course is under water…. Indoor work continues. New “no carts” signs for this year…. I think you get it!
Frost delay this morning slowed us down a little but the guys are out now mowing greens/fairways. Greens look good at .150”, next week we come down to .130”. First dimension apps of the year along cart paths and known trouble areas as well. Enjoy
Greens getting fuzzy! One more Day in the sun before we mow tomorrow. We start focusing on ball roll next week. Very happy with plant health throughout the entire golf course.
Very light frost this morning, will not delay the first tee from opening but it will slow the team down a little. Not worth the damage on April 9. Mowing what we can today and tomorrow before it 🌧️ again.
Frost cleared around 8, golf course is still soaked! Cleaning up what the tree guys dropped last week, almost done with the chainsaws for the season!
Weekend crew did their best to get the golf course open, it’s just too soft out here. We will remain closed for the day. They did manage to give us a head start on the week, a good team goes a long way!
Leadership is what it’s all about! @dirty30milly is a hell of a leader! We wish his well as he starts his LONG drive down to Destin, Florida tomorrow morning. Life is a journey, not a destination, make the most of it! Can’t thank you enough for the last 2 years! See you soon! ⛳️
Penetrant spray on greens while Bob mows what he can of the fairways… more rain on the way!
The club approved extra time for maintenance Mondays this season. Noon opening means we have time to get a lot done! Royer on property to bring up some “keeper” trees. Greens getting another “needle” tine before more rain this week!
Mow/roll on March 30…. Course is wet but open! Enjoy!

@TimothyJ32 @BrianDaigneau @mjsully123 I start once the winter sand is grown through and follow every other week through Father’s Day. I hold off from then until Labor Day and then start again until November, which is when we aerate. Probably 9-10 light apps. We do heavier apps with the top dresser going in winter.

This is Gravy. I kinda dig the name. He’s huge. He’s been in the shelter since Christmas. He was a stray. His owners were found and they didn’t come get him. Gonna take Bruce and Maggie to meet him tomorrow and if it works he can come to Dave’s Home for Wayward Couch Hippos.
Pulling a few cores around collars to prevent the formation of sand dams ahead of greens aerification. Topdressing sand builds up around collars throughout the season. Every green should have 3 points of surface drainage. Very important during winter months and summer heavy rains
