Particularly sad for Waterbury, a city that deserves better than it gets, and has fine historic architecture (McKim Mead White, Cass Gilbert, etc). Those who choose Pelli recognized this, believing the city should have the best. Civic responsibility...

I respect the need for the @MattatuckMuseum to change and expand, but surely there is a better way than to destroy a #cesarpelli treasure? On my last visit, I noted smart interior renovations to reclaim unused space...

Worst of all, the #cesarpelli will be replaced by an undistinguished glass addition. Doubtless, they decided “transparency”=welcoming. A better way to be welcoming would be to focus on the community history programs at which @MattatuckMuseum excelled...

Destruction of a #CesarPelli building in CT began the same day as his passing. Timing aside, it’s a travesty—MoMa & folk art museum but local. @MattatuckMuseum was founded to preserve Waterbury’s history... rep-am.com/local/news-loc…

He was a world-famous architect, of course, but Cesar Pelli was also a New Havener and this city is filled with firms started by Pelli alums. yaledailynews.com/blog/2008/02/2…

The Beinecke Library at Yale University is hosting a special tour Oct 13th to provide a look, inside and out, of the iconic 1963 building designed by Gordon Bunshaft of SOM. The tour will be led by library staff. Attendance is free and open to the public docomomo-us.org/event/beinecke…
