.@jamestanton We can split squares into (a square number of) smaller squares. We can split triangles into (a triangle number of) smaller triangles. These shapes are strictly self-similar. Do you know where to find more, besides the L-shape (as in the yellow diagram)?

@ProfessorMarin @LooneyMath @NaturalMath I loved the steak analogy. You can not uncook a steak just like you can not take back scaffolds and clues that you have already given your students to solve a problem. Let them struggle a little!
