Authorities Detain Chinese Ship Suspected of Salvaging U.K. WWII Wrecks - USNI News news.usni.org/2023/05/30/aut…
@NavalInstitute They’re probably trying to get the steel. All steel today is tainted with radioactive particles due to nuclear testing which can’t be used for sensitive instruments like medical equipment. My guess is there out of this type of steel and are stealing in from shipwrecks
@NavalInstitute About time. Put that thing on the bottom.
@NavalInstitute If anyone is wondering why they are doing this, it’s because of the Low Background Steel. Steel created before the detonation of the first Atomic Bomb. All modern steel is contaminated with traces of nuclear fallout. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-backg…
@NavalInstitute Maybie it's time we started laying Mines around war memorials and other goodies would soon sort out the issue
@NavalInstitute I want to see what CCP explanation is for desecration of war graves, a deliberate act.
@NavalInstitute They're not salvaging it, they're looting a designated war grave. The CCP are locusts.
@NavalInstitute Might be useful for drone target practice once the crew is removed..
@NavalInstitute Low background steel used to be super valuable 40 years ago. Pure oxygen foundries can make steel just as well. The fuck are they even doing?
@NavalInstitute Actions like these are absolutely despicable. It's desecration at the highest level.
@NavalInstitute The CCP doesn't give two shits about maritime law or any thing but what they want. I bet the Malay Gov. got a hot phone call from Bejing and that ship "escaped" a nanosecond later. "Stern warnings" and "grave concern" won't stop them. Look what they did to the South China Sea.
@NavalInstitute Those two ships are British war graves, and should not be disturbed.
@NavalInstitute Iirc among the known WW2 wrecks in the pacific, many mysteriously had disappearing parts over the past decades. On one hand we see them as military graves, on the other, it’s A LOT of steel. I think there are unique properties to these materials too, something about radiations.
@NavalInstitute Prince of Wales, Repulse, Exeter, Houston, De Ruyter, Java, Perth, Electra, Encounter, Jupiter, Pope, O-16, Perch, and K-XVII have all either been destroyed/severely damaged by salvagers The best use for that Chinese salvaging vessel is to be used as a target practice.
@NavalInstitute For all of the cost involved, it is hard to see how they make a profit. Consider the daily operating cost of a ship that large.
@NavalInstitute Great news , send it for scrap
@NavalInstitute @weastism Sink that shit
@NavalInstitute they need that 70+ years old technology for their new ship 💀
@NavalInstitute This is so wrong it’s a grave site.
@NavalInstitute Is nothing sacred to those earth raping assholes?
@NavalInstitute Just sink it. They havent learnt so detain them all and sink the ship.
@NavalInstitute Thank you 🇺🇸 lots of love 🇬🇧
