Geoff Capes was a very specific 80s icon. Everpresent on children’s tv, always using Roy Castle as a dumbbell or something. Professional strongman, Olympian. A very British superstar, in an age of Ready Brek and Luncheon Vouchers. Hammer down the doors of Valhalla, Geoff.

Still on today but some of the miniatures buzzing around the site @Staplefordtrain yesterday - the event is ace but 4G coverage is not the best! Have some standby cash as some stall's machines occasionally struggled - MrsA had to do without a fancy Hot Chocolate for a bit 😱

My late friend Thora Hird told me how she'd be stopped in shops mistaken for Beryl Reid & asked for her autograph. I asked what did you do. Well Thora said, I signed as Beryl. I wouldn't want to upset a fan & I'd like to think she'd do the same for me! And I bet she would've too.
