One of the major reason that homes are overpriced is becuz they're no longer basic- they all have thousands of dollars of "help-sell" items. These include taller ceilings, "upgraded" appliances, etc.

What most pundits of free markets dont understand is that when prices are suppressed, the momentum of market investment forces businesses to keep going. The math of failure or success is not a lovely simple curve, its a pit fall and plateau of multiple market forces.
