Obsessive compulsions CAN be carried out through keeping things neat, but this is not the only case. Many people have other intrusive thoughts or compulsions that have nothing to do with being neat/organized. For example, my room is constantly a mess, but yes, I still have OCD.

When thinking about the difference between physical and mental health, the first thing that pops into one’s mind around physical health is usually exercise, while for mental health, unfortunately the first thing that pops into one’s mind usually relates to a mental health stigma.

One of the hardest challenges I faced was learning that progress may come slow. In reality, I wish I could just snap my fingers and magically my OCD would go away, but unfortunately this is not the case. So for today, my advice is to trust the process of management and recovery.

One of the hardest challenges I find when trying to manage my OCD is the lack of understanding/support from others. Most ppl I have talked to believe that OCD is just about being neat, organized, & having to count to a certain number. This may be the case for some ppl but not me

I encourage everyone following this account to read through these tweets. Society needs to get rid of its stigma surrounding OCD. I have had OCD for almost my whole life and when someone says they think they have OCD just because they need to be “neat” it is heartbreaking.

When trying to manage OCD I have learned that everyday brings a new challenge, and when I look at it from a broader perspective I have realized that the whole journey of management is a rollercoaster. You’re going to have bad days & good days but one day shouldn’t affect the next
