Haven’t checked it out? No worries, let’s give you a little tour of how @PBOTinfo, @portlandwater, and @BESPortland have worked together to improve SW Capitol Hwy from Multnomah Village to West Portland. portland.gov/transportation…
In summer 2021, we began rebuilding SW Capitol Hwy by installing a stormwater management system, making upgrades to the water system, and building roadside retaining walls.
In total, @PBOTinfo, @portlandwater, and @BESPortland installed over 7,000 linear feet of stormwater pipe, 3,000+ feet of earthquake-resistant water main, 13 roadside retaining walls, and more!
While our city partners have helped make this project a reality, Portlanders made this project possible by supporting #FixingOurStreets, Portland's gas and heavy vehicle use tax for fixing our streets and making them safer for all.
This collaborative project is a great example of how we’re making investments to keep Portland moving. Learn more about how Fixing Our Streets is bringing millions of dollars to our communities, paving our streets, filling potholes, and so much more: fixingourstreets.com
Work continued through 2022. PBOT built concrete multi-use paths, curbs, and ADA ramps along SW Capitol Highway. SW Capitol Highway is already safer for all road users and water infrastructure is more seismically resilient.
There is now a stormwater system to capture all the winter rain, where there wasn’t one before.
As we make progress on finalizing the improvements along SW Capitol Hwy, today @PBOTinfo staff are asking city council for $4.3 million in additional funding because of increased expenses related to the project.
