Now the dust has settled and we've (slept!) sorted out the lost property and final bits, We've started to collect the trip photos and found this.. this is the exact moment we boarded the ferry. This is how much it meant to us! 🤣 Enjoy #whatatrip #amazingkids

Better still, the ferry is now moving. All this does mean our ETA back at school is around 5am. We'll keep you updated as we go
We're not going to be on the 7pm ferry. We hope to be on the next one (listed as 10:25pm) we will keep you informed as we find out more information.

We have had a wonderful trip until the last hour. Despite being at Calais in good time, the port is in gridlock so we are very unlikely to make our original ferry. We are now aiming to get on the 1900 ferry rather than the 1715, 1/2

Last night we attended and took part in the Menin Gate Last Post ceremony which happens every evening of everyday. Four of our students took part by laying a wreath from the school

We're leaving Belgium (and yes, the chocolate shop) but whilst we've been here some of our students have been discovering their connections with the fallen - specific known relatives, or even just shared surnames. More to follow..

Some year 9s at the grave of a ‘year 10’ - Joe Valentine Strudwick lied about his age to sign up and was killed in Belgium on the 14th of January 1916.
Today so far, we've been to the Somme area Lochnagar Crater Theipval memorial Newfoundland memorial & trenches & The Ulster tower (which also involved ice cream!) Now to The Peronne museum #phgsbattlefields2025
