From literature about architects losing leadership position in the industry to others arguing that architects must follow the more specialised members of the building team, the value of architects has come into question in contemporary globalised construction discourse.
From Reality to Fiction Practiceopolis: A Second Life for Architectural Drawings in a Fictional Graphic Novel The novel portrays how the architectural profession is not autonomous but implicated in the values and agendas of other actors in the industry with whom it cooperates.
From Reality to Fiction Practiceopolis: A Second Life for Architectural Drawings in a Fictional Graphic Novel The novel gives a second life to a set of architectural drawings and correspondences communicating its argument through a mixture of text and graphics.
Through this graphic novel, architectural drawings have acquired a new life outside their conventional function as a tool for communication between the project’s team.

Practiceopolis is a world where architecture is the centre of life, where every architectural world-view becomes tangible. In this world, all architectural ideas, concepts, theories, built outcomes become both actual and symbolic entities.
Practiceopolis is a fictive city-state, located within a union of states representing different members in the construction domain. They together form ‘Constructopolis—the Confederation of the Building Industry’.
