Supreme Court challenge update: Getting the decision on leave to appeal on Thursday. If we lose on Thursday, that's it, this challenge is over, that's the last stage. If we win on Thursday, then there's a lot more work to be done, and still a chance for procedural fairness.

Because at a very basic level, this ban has taken a subset of our population who volunteered to undertake more legal scrutiny than any other in order to simply possess firearms, and has made them criminals for doing so. And that's not great for law and order.
The biggest cost of this gun ban won't be the over a billion tax dollars it requires, nor the distraction it provides from the actual causes of crime. It'll be that millions of Canadians are about to have their trust in the political and judicial systems significantly eroded.
