Today we finish our data collection at Majadas field site. After 8 days of flying, we have collected 1.5 TB of data, (>300k images) with our @quantumdrones F90+, including thermal images like this one, showing the cool tree canopies vs hot grass. Gracias España, ¡te queremos!

When it's on, it's on. And today it's on! Our @quantumdrones F90+ is working overtime today, this is flight 2 of 6, collecting thermal images for evapotranspiration mapping in La Dehesa, Spain. On Monday we did 6 surveys and took >60k images! ¡Ay, caramba!

Our evapotranspiration mapping work involves measuring canopy temperature from the air and the ground. Here warmer temperatures are in yellow, and the cold sky is black. Those curious cows came back to photo bomb our measurements! 📷🐂🐃🐄

As bigbird flies overhead, we spend our afternoon with these beautiful beasts. Well, actually we're making sure they don't go for our infrared radiometer, but at least they're interested in our project. Today was landsat 8 overpass day too! #upscalethatflux

New paper! Led by @IlyaMaclean, we describe a model predicting #microclimate from forest canopy to soil. Ilya did the hard parts (building a microclimate model from first principles), and I then broke the model many times during validation :) But it works! sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
