Cohort 3 Update! 6 weeks since the release, and so far, they have traveled ~600 km (373 mi)! They continue northward towards cooler waters. These loggerheads have transformed from tiny hatchlings into oceanic voyagers, helping us understand how turtles navigate migration routes.

Another successful tagging week! 🐢 All 28 Cohort 2025 turtles are equipped with satellite tags! The process includes performing a health exam, assigning IDs, cleaning their shells, applying the tag with an adhesive, & a coating to prevent algae growth. Release updates soon!

A summary of the Cohort II progress! Since their release in July 2024, these loggerheads have traveled an average of 3,515 mi. each! Distances ranged from 2,783 mi. (Hazuki) to 4,815 mi. (Mei), showing significant variation in distance traveled. Next up, Cohort III updates! 🐢
