Let's spend less time arguing about stats and more time arguing about how averaging ordinal numbers is at best poorly defined (at worst complete nonsense) and plays a major part in nearly everyone's lives from GPAs to performance reviews! Is A,A,D,A really the same as A,A,C,B?

Inductive arguments are *actually weaker* than more direct arguments. It means your result doesn't apply to non-well-founded objects, or to more heterogeneous structures (not built only out of the building blocks you allowed in your induction). This can easily matter in software.

Paying more than a dollar in a dollar auction doesn't automatically make you irrational. Only if you'd predictable do so. This is a bit similar to the observation that waiting time distributions in no way have to reduce expected time left as you wait.
