Just for fun, here's a shot of the hard drive's control board. It's one of those portable hard drives with the USB built-in, so you can't even re-use the enclosure. Oh well.

I also jury-rigged in this diode for reverse polarity protection. Wouldn't wanna do that repair all over again!

Didn't have any SMT 78L05's or tantalum caps handy, so I had to bodge in a couple things. I'm sure the electrons won't mind.

All three of the 5-volt regulators I could find inside my Turnigy 9X transmitter. Two of them have already given up the magic smoke from my backwards battery blunder. The third is still undecided.

So, it turns out the Turnigy 9X transmitter has not one, but THREE 7805 regulators stuffed inside! And you'll blow up at least two of em when you plug the battery in the wrong way around. Fun times ahead!

Lesson learned: Python's kinda important, and Ubuntu doesn't really like it when you try and get rid of it. Maybe I'll try and remove apt while I'm here.
