SAR responded to Ripple Creek for a positive outcome in a SAR call on the 19th. A 78 YOM with Dementia walked away from his hunting camp w/out any shoes, hunting rifle or provisions. SAR responded, along w/a SAR dog & Classic Lifeguard heli to fly & locate. Male was found safe.

Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce K9 Remmy’s achievements with Deputy Smith at the 2019 Colorado Police Canine Challenge held in Rifle, Colorado. K9 Remmy placed 2nd in the Narcotics-Vehicle Search for his age group! Great job you guys!

All evacuations have been lifted for the Columbine Park fire near Rangely at this time, fire is contained at this time, Highway 64 is reopened as well, be advised there are still responders in area.

September 29, 2019 Jordan Fire As of 9:00 am today there was little fire growth. Today, Fire crews continue to work to contain the fire. High winds are expected again today. We are advising nearby residents to maintain a pre-evacuation status, no evacuations have been ordered.

NEWS RELEASE September 28, 2019 Jordan Fire RBC was advised of a fire in the County Road 7 area between mile markers 5 and 7. Crews from BLM, Meeker Fire Department and several Rio Blanco Deputies have responded.The fire is approximately 100 acres and is moving North.

Several reports of large rocks in the roadways in our county this morning. Crews are out trying to get them off the road. As of now there are large boulders on Hwy 139 at milemarker 37 and also a large boulder on County Road 5, Piceance Creek between milemarker 9 and 10.

K-9 deployment benefits Rio Blanco County K-9 Remmy, handler Deputy Davon Smith and his colleagues have been able to remove methamphetamine, cocaine and illegal possession of weapons out of Rio Blanco County. K-9 Remmy’s first day was February 1, 2019

Terra Energy will be moving their H&P 271 rig over the next couple days and will be traveling down Piceance Creek, headed south from the MTW road (mm20) to Hwy 13 and on to Grand Junction. Be aware of these heavy loads & give them plenty of distance as they cannot stop quickly.

**CLOSED BOTH DIRECTIONS** Highway 64 between Rangely and Meeker at the 25 1/2 mile marker to the 26 1/2 mile marker. Due to the rock mitigation both directions are closed right now, they will be clearing for a little while. Will update as we hear more information.

Traffic delays on Highway 13, north of Rifle. Between JQS Road (mile marker 3) and Piceance Creek Road 5 (mile marker 19) alternating traffic due to pothole repairs.
