more on @utafrith 's proposal for #slowscience : can't restrict output, can't restrict grants, but in Canada it seems that @NSERC_CRSNG and other agencies give smaller grants than in the US, more equitably, and to more researchers, proportionally

Agree with @utafrith 's diagnostic, not necessarily with the proposed solutions. She's right we must teach students history of science. But philosophy of science and the theoretical foundations of the field too. It's all a popularity contest now, breeding the #MathewEffect
