We don't call it mentoring but collaborative partners. Everyone has something to offer and something to learn. #edchat
As teachers I think we get too caught up in modeling/seeing everything with a teacher/student eye. Mentoring may fall into this. #edchat
Real PD only happens between equals. Any imposed heirarchy,master teacher,mentor/mentee scenario brings with it too much a baggage. #edchat
Perfect scenario:get rid of mentor/mentee mentality, welcome a new teacher to a small team as an equal. #edchat We all mentor to each other.
I mean if you really want to change education why would you want new teachers learning what the old teachers are doing? #edchat
Has anyone considered that the last thing a new teacher needs is a mentor who is part of the status quo? #edchat
So let's get rid of the word mentoring, and move towards teacher pairings and teams that honour gender, age, and race. #edchat
Education isn't a game of seniority anymore, so the idea of older teachers mentoring younger ones it too one directional. #edchat
