ALBERTANS OUTLINE HOW SMITH’S GATEKEEPING BILL WILL HARM THEM AND THE PROVINCE EDMONTON — Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley was joined by everyday Albertans and Alberta NDP Critics Rhiannon Hoyle, Kyle Kasawski and Janis Irwin to show the wide-ranging harm that Albertans will experience should Danielle Smith and the UCP pass Bill 18. “I’ve had the privilege to serve in Government for more than a few years now,” said Notley. “And one thing I learned is keepinging lines of communication open, sometimes with people you don’t necessarily agree with, is worth it if Albertans will benefit. “But Danielle Smith prefers to childishly fight with the federal government, and it will cause harm to Albertans and the services they rely on.” Dr. Andy Knight, a distinguished University of Alberta professor of International Relations, says, “Political meddling will create barriers to funding the important research our academic institutions do. It has the potential of driving away from our province some of the top academics in various fields.” Lesley Thomspon, an Albertan living with Type 1 Diabetes, says this bill will exacerbate the burden on those already struggling to afford care. “It’s time to stop playing politics with people’s lives,” she said. “Diabetes tried to kill me, instead I learned to fight back. And I won’t let this government try to do the same.” Norma Johnson and her husband have lived in the same apartment for twelve years and paid $1,050 a month in rent until they were hit with a $400 a month, or nearly 40%, increase. “There’s nothing affordable on the market. We’re just not making it. Our government should explore all options, including rent caps, and seize every opportunity to partner with the federal government to build more affordable housing,” Johnson said. “It’s been almost a whole year since the last election and Danielle Smith and her UCP have gotten nothing accomplished on health care, education and affordability,” Notley concluded. “Albertans are hurting and begging them to do something to help.” #ableg #abpoli
@RachelNotley They are useless and even the cons know it but won’t admit it.
@RachelNotley @TLLPST_ They have no interest in making life better for Albertans. They exist to enrich themselves and their friends.m
@RachelNotley Go bake to the Bottle, NDP/Liberals, are Done. Honestly Done/Gone ✌️🍻🐹
