Amazing performance of tilemap rendering in VFX-Forth. Somewhere around 20x faster than SwiftForth. This is good because that means no need to optimize anything manually.

#gamedev #ForthLang #LDJAM Got my map editor and sprite engine up and running in my new specially made engine. Just gotta integrate my existing sound and collision systems. Hopefully it'll be ready in time for the jam! If not it'll just have no sound and I'll use tile-movement.

Not in the traditional sense. The blocks will store just data, such as sprites and maps. A host of commands will allow editing data and seeing the effects in the game in realtime. Graphical tools I've already built will be adapted to work with it.

#forthlang #gamedev Working on a demo, and smaller offshoot examples based on it. It'll be a short Pikmin-like game. It's gonna have its own simplified tilemap renderer and a built-in map editor!

#forthlang #gamedev Manual is done. I'm working on adding some new examples; wrote and tested 3 today. Gotta dig through my archive for more things I could quickly adapt to Ramen. Will also create a small proper example game, the idea I mentioned.
