3. SVB SELLS BOND PORTFOLIO AT A LOSS: Due to redemptions, SVB sold a bond portfolio for $21b. The average yield of 1.79% on the portfolio was far below the current 10yr Treasury yield of about 3.9%, leading to SVB recognizing a $1.8b loss to be filled through fund raising.

2. SVB CLIENTS FACE CASH CRISIS: Due to the market for IPO closing costs & private fundraising costs increasing, some SVB clients began withdrawing funds to meet liquidity needs. SVB decided to search for ways to meet withdrawal demands, ultimately leading to failure.
