Grateful for those of you getting it touch to tell me about all the poor behaviour of those who have targeted me. Multiple accounts, workplace sackings, online bullying and stalking, constant trolling, tragic personal lives etc. Doesn’t surprise me one bit.

Very interesting response to a complaint I made about a professional’s use of oppressive language last month. Response from CAMHS is that they will be investigating the matter and are taking my concerns seriously. Good to see organisations of such stature taking action.

Lots of potential reasons why many social workers will turn on their fellow colleagues rather than try to support them. I’ve seen it for 2 decades in the workplace and see it online every night. Would be keen if anyone could point to research in this area.

There is also the issue of people being stuck in jobs they dislike and the bitterness creeping into their personal lives. Rather than accept the need to make changes, they distract from their own issues by harming others.

Other social workers come into this profession in an effort to right the wrongs that happened in their own lives. Perhaps their internal struggles lead to them projecting their own insecurities and anxieties onto others.

Many of the social workers younger than me (post-DipSW) came into the profession as a ’fall back’ after finding their degrees in criminology and sociology didn’t translate to jobs. Perhaps there is a chip on their shoulders.

Before I was a social worker I held roles in residential care, education and youth justice. In all my time I have never seen a vocation with as much in-fighting and internal bullying as social work. Little wonder we fail at advocating change on behalf of those we support.

Good to see issues I have raised about offensive online interactions getting more attention overnight. Whilst some are seeking to steer the conversation in other ways, I am grateful that they are still bringing more attention to the problem overall. Thanks for the interest.

Looking forward to @researchIP clarifying why their director would publicly question the ‘calibre’ of an individuals masculinity. Such talk is extremely dangerous in a society where many of us are fighting hard to recognise the wide spectrum of gender and sexuality 🏳️‍🌈

A few weeks ago there was a great deal of concern raised about @researchIP using the oppressive term ‘resistant parents’ and I joined in by challenging this. Worrying that today one of their directors has used the term ‘calibre of masculinity’. I would have expected better.

Should an assistant director for @researchIP questioning the ‘calibre’ of someone’s masculinity? Quite concerning language after the recent scandal their ill-advised and misjudged tweets have caused. You’d expect more from the org.

I have never claimed this is anything to do with me. My curiosity is driven by the fact that @BASW_UK only saw fit to disclose this information after I had raised concerns. Why the secrecy? Why try to hide this information beforehand?

Unfortunately my experiences were somewhat different. Out of nowhere I was met with aggressive words, swearing, mocking, claims that people could be ‘unmanly’ based on their cars and insults. I am glad others have had more positive experiences.

I was no longer able to find tweets telling me to ‘f**k off’ and calling somebody ‘unmanly’ based on the car they drive. Those were the tweets I raised concerns with @BASW_UK about. Their response was to reveal you were no longer their patron.
