What is happening with valve?
@Redot_Engine I don't blame Valve for doing what they did. The payment processors are a cartel that have most industries under their thumb. I blame Valve for making a shitty response though.
@Redot_Engine Feminist supremacist screamed at the payment processor Mafia force valve into capitulation. This is a strong argument for cryptocurrencies, but I'm not really sure about it.
@Redot_Engine They don't have leverage in this situation. No options.
@Redot_Engine payment processors get to do whatever they want and there is no hope to stop or stand up to them this system that has been created valve is powerless to them completely
@Redot_Engine Payment processors are awful and have a monopoly. They should stick to paying for stuff not moral judgements. One way around this is make certain games only purchasable with Steam Credits or steam gift cards. As a strategy gamer it does not affect me yet. But it could.
@Redot_Engine In short; Judge made a ruling that Visa was complicit in illegal activities in cornhub case, where cornhub distributed illegal corn. This made Visa demand cornhub remove all offending material, as Visa don't want to be blamed for corn-material. This is the evolution of that.
It's a combination of factors. Valve literally can't do anything if the Payment Processors cut off their ability to collect money. The Payment Processors have been forced to consider a "reputational risk" for everything they do thanks to the Patriot Act. And Female Supremacists have made it a "reputational risk" to sell items that treat men as human beings and women as having agency. youtu.be/_ekFr70A880?si…

@Redot_Engine Basically, If Visa and Mastercard refuse to proccess payments to Steam, they kind of go bankrupt, this wasn't a problema until those companies got infected with activists.
@Redot_Engine -They have a gun to their head. -Not enough awarness or support from consumers. -No mean to resist those credits cartels.
@Redot_Engine There is nothing they can do whatsoever. It may as well be the entire Marine Corps kicking in the door to Valve.
@Redot_Engine Visa and MasterCard have them by the short and curlies and crypto is used widely enough as a form of payment to replace them.
@Redot_Engine This is the kind of change that looks from the outside, like a Founder losing control. It could mean Gaben has finally taken a step back - and the floodgates are about to open on further radical changes to Steam.
@Redot_Engine This is for “corn” now. But it could be making certains nations unplayable in war games in the future.
@Redot_Engine experiencing the result weaponizing payment processors. We need real alternatives, because now we are in dark times.
@Redot_Engine It's a group that preaches gender inclusivity known as Collective Shout that talked to the credit card company to exclude selling adult games on Steam. While they deal with Leigh Rothschild's patent trolling... And a group of lawyers grifting for billions. it's FUBA sir.
@Redot_Engine What seems to be happening is Valve is being forced to remove some games from the platform and Valve is responding poorly, either due handing the situation poorly wanting to do this for a while
@Redot_Engine Idk but I suddenly feel the need to roll my own e-commerce somehow.
@Redot_Engine It's not something that's happening with Valve it's something that affects the entire industry including platforms like patreon even.
@Redot_Engine Valve has no responsibility for such, it's the payment compannies forcing Valve to do it. if they don't comply, steam loses support from visa & mastercard.
@Redot_Engine Nothing is "happening" to Steam
@Redot_Engine Basically, payment processors cartel have, in effect, obtained extralegal powers to effect moral judgement and punish whoever and whatever they wish without legal obligations.
@Redot_Engine TL;DR - Valve's being blackmailed by Visa & Mastercard at the behest of insufferable harridan hags.
@Redot_Engine Gabe Newell is too busy working on the specs of his multimillion super yatch
@Redot_Engine Steam can't do anything. They have no choice, those payment processors basically have a monopoly. They can't just switch to another payment processor or crypto because they would lose every normie customer.
@Redot_Engine Valve is falling big time! Good thing! Maybe it's about time to put them back into reality!!
@Redot_Engine you mean beyond a disingenuous game journo headline? who knows, prolly half life 3
@Redot_Engine I understand them not being able to do much, and even can understand them not wanting to spend money on establishing a way to circumvent those two payment processors (which is completely possible), but did they really have to be such assholes with the response?
