The first newscast of the week is in the books. Thank you for following our live tweeting!
Sports highlights are often tough to edit because they could be loaded with jump cuts. To avoid this, try using a quick cross dissolve or find cutaways to the crowd, the bench, scoreboard, or even a close up on a player.
The sports block, aka the C block, opens with the Gator men’s basketball team’s loss to Kentucky from over the weekend. Usually, you want to start the block with what’s coming up. However, this was a huge loss for the Gators as they try to make the NCAA Tournament.
The longer weather forecast allows the entertainment anchor to get out of the frame and for the sports anchor to get mic’d up and put in their earpiece. This process usually takes 2 and a half minutes.
The entertainment segment on WUFT opens with the latest on R Kelly. This segment usually offers latest celebrity news, weekend box office and preview local events for the week.
The saying #lookgoodplaygood is true when on the news. When picking your wardrobe, try to find bright, solid colors. Try to stay away from complex patterns as it could confuse the camera.

The use of full screens in a newscast helps layout what the anchor is telling the viewer allowing them to see and hear it. This helps for those who might have the sound off on the newscast.
The first story from one of the reporters is about medical marijuana. The story utilized video sequences, which is when you film the same subject at different angles. This is highly encouraged for reporters to use.
The show is on the air! The leading story today is new information released by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office for a missing pregnant woman.
