#bookillustrationoftheday Can anyone tell me from what boot this illustration comes from? It was purchased by my daughter from a used book dealer that takes illustrations from ' unsalvageable' books, but they didn't put the name of the book or author on it anywhere Thank you.

(5/n) should have included that we tried envirotex to encapsulate her. It just got hot and ruined the mold we tried to use

Now my wife is happy, We actually got two more moths of a different type and they hatched and flew off together, hopefully happily ever after. But the mounted one is a bit creepy to me. All I think of when I see it is.. (6/6)

Well that was a disaster. We never got close to putting her in it. It got hot and turned amber. So I read about mounting them. Meanwhile, she was getting worse for the wear. Her wings were starting to disintegrate. But I learned how and dried and mounted her. (5/n)

They should have hatched in a week, but not being fertilized, they didn't. My wife felt extremely bad for her, feeling that we had betrayed her by not having a male. She gradually got weaker. My wife wanted me to immortalize her when she finally died. (4/n)

So she sat on my wife's plant on the deck through sun, warm, cold, rain, and wind. No male ever came. She started laying eggs. My wife felt bad for her, so we brought her back in. Where she continued to lay eggs all over the screen cage..literally hundreds. (3/n)

We should have researched it better, or at all. What we didn't know is that we should have hatched more. Ours, as we discovered, was a female. And apparently the females don't fly. They release scent to attract a male. Hatching more would have likely got us a male also. (2/n)

Maybe a longish series here. Every year we hatch some insects. Butterflies, praying mantis', ladybugs, and this year moths. Or so it started with one. It hatched about a month and a half ago. 2nd pic has my teenage daughter's hand for scale. (1/n):
