Saying that worse outcomes for some black & minority ethnic groups is mainly explained by their higher poverty rates isn't demonstrating that race & racism aren't major causes. It's showing that racial injustice helps lock people in poverty, with terrible consequences.

Rather than just looking at the median, here's the distribution of income in London compared to the rest of the UK: in London, there are more people in poverty, a lot fewer on below-median income, more people on higher incomes
