Normalise asking children for consent to touch them. Whether it is a hug, a kiss, an arm rub. Ask for consent. Teach them from a young age that they have autonomy over their personal space and they have a right to be upset if it is violated.

Calling all white Emerson alums and students to read this — our experiences there were vastly different from those of our BIPOC peers, and we shouldn’t have allowed it for as long as we did. Our school is not NEARLY as “woke” as it pretends to be.

Anyone remember Christopher Dobens, the #bostonstrong guy? While a lot of people know this, some may not: he’s accused of sexual assault by multiple women across multiple colleges. Maybe we should retire the saying. It no longer makes us feel strong.
