Own “best” for stuck at home (eg $ATVI $AMZN) but also big covid losers w/ good balance sheets that benefit from Fed optimism & economy reopen. Bought $DIS 5/5 post results after being either short or neutral $DIS since mid-Feb. Can’t get much worse than stopping their dividend

S&P up 9.4% seemed like short covering rally. Stocks up most were those hit hardest from oil, debt, work from home & social distancing while better positioned names underperformed. At 3/24 close, started to put back the shorts I covered at 3/23 close. Infections have not peaked.

Fed loans to small/med biz is important easing action today. 80%+ of workers outside S&P500. US GDP ~70% consumer based. I expect rally soon lasting more than 1 day & w/ ~10% S&P gain before selling/shorting again. COVID infections flattening or oil truce makes rally more durable

My base case is a recession & 35-50% S&P drop peak to trough. Hold stocks benefitting from low rates& covid-19 lockdown. Short/sell rallies & cover/buy when technicals oversold. Some metrics at levels during 2008/9. I covered shorts put on during recent rally& botched G7 meeting.

After a rare conference call, G-7 finance minister only pledge to fight Covid-19 but take no action? IMO not what investors were looking for when they pushed S&P up 4.6% yesterday. Markets have a way of testing the resolve of central bankers & investors when they are disappointed

Came into 2/27 @ over 40% cash & by close 14 of 16 metrics tracked oversold. Could still get worse & worried long-term about 2020 recession but near-term “be greedy when others are fearful.” Now covered all but 2 shorts& started reaching for falling knives on long side & <20%cash
