Good for the most part, but the things about the starter is that they usually need a grounding in how we got to that point, so the early forerunners would need a mention: Gary Burton Charles Lloyd Larry Coryell Other important names missing: Donald Byrd Tony Williams Billy Cobham The Brecker Brothers Eddie Henderson And the starter may not prefer "free" jazz but it was a logical endpoint for fusion, so people who could've gotten a mention: Ornette Coleman & Prime Time Last Exit
@SVG__Collection A notable if brief contribution to jazz fusion in the early '70s was Azteca, a group of extraordinary San Francisco-based musicians. Wonderful musicianship (Tom Harrell's brass solos always impressive); consistently appealing feel-go tunes youtube.com/watch?v=d-dydd…
@SVG__Collection This is a great one if you love Jaco’s self titled but want a more acoustic approach
@SVG__Collection I am all about the fusion. Very cool.
@SVG__Collection I think you should add Tony Williams...Tony brought John McLaughlin to the US to form The Tony Williams Lifetime, one of the first fusion bands, and John was picked by Miles for In The Silent Way (including Tony himself), which can be connected with The Mahavishnu Orchestra.
@SVG__Collection Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy was the first Return to Forever album I ever got. My brother gave it to me as a gift. Bill Connors is a very underrated guitarist.
@SVG__Collection I’ve been influenced by a number of these. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised the first time I released a recording of my own material the AI classifier marked it as acid jazz fusion.
@SVG__Collection Appreciate it
@SVG__Collection It’s not complete without Romantic Warrior - Return to Forever.
@SVG__Collection They don’t mention Jimi’s influence on Miles at the time,that’s part of what kind sparked his transition
@SVG__Collection Love a lot of these albums. Did not expect to see Hot Rats. Huge Zappa Fan but never dug Hot Rats 🤷 Am I alone?
@SVG__Collection Nice seeing @Casiopea_staff on here.
@SVG__Collection Nothing but applause for this guide. A strand of George Duke connecting Frank Zappa would be sweet. Duke and Zawinul both played with Cannonball which may have added drop of soul to the stew. I was birthed by Bitches Brew, raised by Zawinul, embraced by Grover. Lucky me!
@SVG__Collection Nucleus definitely belong in this exalted company 😎🎺
@SVG__Collection Which of these 16 greats do you introduce a friend to Jazz Fusion?
@SVG__Collection Tony Williams Lifetime is woefully omitted, ground zero for the revolution.
