Ella Fitzgerald - Mack The Knife A voice like no other…
If ya wanna get your mind blown….. listen to Cottontail from the album Ella at Dukes Place….. - not only is it at breakneck pace…. Ella starts by scatting and dominates the entire song….taking unbelievable leaps of octaves and intervals that defy all norms and logic….. with Cootie Williams demonstrating incredible range on the final note of the tune….. simply mind blowing….
@SVG__Collection Haven't heard this one. My absolute favorite is this longer version. youtu.be/HMGOti4LvuI?si…
@SVG__Collection Just the best. For me, there is no other. I was devastated when she passed away. I was lucky enough to see her perform in Toronto in the Imperial Room at the Royal York Hotel.
@SVG__Collection Absolute perfection. Saw her at Carnegie Hall with Count Basie around 1980. She was just magic!
@SVG__Collection My absolute FAVORITE Mack the Knife rendition by Ella Fitzgerald was in Berlin where she forgot the words, went into a scat rendition and then right into How High the Moon!! Her performance that night was incredible!!
@SVG__Collection The finest voice. Any genre. Any Era❤️
@SVG__Collection Totally Agree.
@SVG__Collection "AND NOW EEEEEELLLLLAAAAA & HER FEEEELLAAASSS..." When she forgets the lyrics & starts improvising I just get chills! I love this Womn & I LOVE this performance
@SVG__Collection This was when I knew they were all nihilists.
@SVG__Collection Two queens big band Ella and Billie. They both can be the best because Ella was large and in charge and Billie was on the other end, sad and took u with her. They both defined the best of big band and did it so differently, so passionately, and beautifully.
