The echoing keys, the rolling thunder—Ray Manzarek takes us inside the ghostly atmosphere of “Riders on the Storm”…
@SVG__Collection Manzarek’s keys summon the storm’s soul. Timeless magic.
@SVG__Collection I'm not the biggest vDoors fan, but this gives me chills. Amazing.
@SVG__Collection It's funny, I live in Arizona and I think just about every classic rock station here will play this song whenever it rains here, no thought to the ominous theme and lyric 😄
@SVG__Collection Once in the early 80s, I was driving through Clearwater, Fla., and one of those summer downpours just opens up. Just as the rain hits, this song came on. It was wild! I'll never forget that.
@SVG__Collection @shaughnessy They were so good. Ray was the band historian always keeping Jim alive. RIP both
@SVG__Collection In 1977, I worked with Ray Manzarek, a highly intelligent and skilled player. Our bassist, Nigel Harrison, was excellent.
@SVG__Collection The combination of the Fender Rhodes keyboard with a Leslie speaker is classic
@SVG__Collection Brings the key board to life ….
@SVG__Collection A rock band with no bass player
@SVG__Collection Saw the Doors in n the great city of Chicago. In the near south side was a venue that no longer exists. The Coliseum which was home to the pro basketball Zephrs. Saw Cream there as well.
@SVG__Collection He was always the best thing about the otherwise pedestrian Doors.
@SVG__Collection That classic Fender-Rhodes sound brings back memories.
@SVG__Collection Riders On The Storm was the last song on their final album. Jim Morrison would fly to Paris straight after finishing recording.
@SVG__Collection I loved his work with X back in the day. youtu.be/-MKi82ezkaQ?si…
@SVG__Collection It's always sad to me when guys like Ray, who continually relive their secondhand moments of fame after 50 years. Like it or not, Jim Morrison was the Doors. He's dead, it ended, you're a speck in history.
@SVG__Collection The Fender Rhodes piano is a beast ! 👍😎
@SVG__Collection @IAmJohnAles He was an interesting guy. Definitely a talker, but in a good way. My mom is a bug too long person, but so was he I guess. He was great but strange.
@SVG__Collection Manzarek's keyboard in 'Riders on the Storm' still gives me chills - that ghostly atmosphere is pure magic!
@SVG__Collection Brilliant… man and nature in harmony.
@SVG__Collection Unfortunately, you don’t seem to be capable of singing like Jim Morrison! Sorry Ray.
